I'm no genius, but...

America is always wanting and pushing to be first. Why do we so often feel so far behind the rest of the world?
College educated, hard working people can't afford insurance.
We're afraid to go too green in case we piss off a corporate giant.
We eat junk instead of eating well - because its fast and cheap and we have to get ahead.

If the apocalypse really does happen on Saturday, why did my mom ask me to dinner on Sunday? Technically Sunday shouldn't exist. And what about the Mayans and that whole 2012 thing? How will we have an apocalypse after the apocalypse?? Hmmm???
................................................................

Why do we get so ranty about what celebrities and politicians are doing when we do the same crap and think its OK? Since when did anyone think Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to make better decision than Bob down the street, or Lucy in the auditors office? Is it because he's going to go all Terminator on our asses if we don't believe him? Or what about Miley Cyrus? Is she really that much better than little Sally Girl-next-door that we hold her to a higher standard? I doubt that. Sally probably knows all about salvia and cell phone nipple pictures too. Don't think I'm begin cynical - it happens.

If we really want our kids to be the best, shouldn't we encourage them to actually work to be the best and not ask that they are treated like they deserve it? Do you actually know of a job, outside of being Prince William, where you are in no matter what? Even Billy Madison had to go back to school. (OK, that was the worst example possible, but you understand.)  I'm tired of parents that think their kid should have their grades, medals, trophies, schooling, and social roles handed to them on a silver platter. Your kid is NOT any more special or important than anyone else's. Deal with it. Also, please see the above point about Sally and Miley. Yeah, your kid might just have taken a picture of their pee pee and sent it to his girlfriend. Now, take their damn cell phone away, don't blame the teacher for not watching your son's pee pee, because THAT is an entirely different lawsuit!!

Coffee is generally served hot, unless otherwise stated. If you need it printed on the cup, you should obviously not be drinking coffee. This goes for knives being sharp, revolving doors, and any other potentially common sense related issue. Please also not the words common sense
.................................................................

An imagination is a terrible thing to waste. So is childhood. Dressing your baby in heels or Shape Ups, injecting them with Botox, shoving their defeated little wills into padded bikini tops at six years old will bring out the best Mileys, Sallys, and Arnolds around. Also, it shows that you lack the aforementioned common sense thing and think your child is the shit. False.

I have no idea where this post came from, but it was a nice little vent. Enjoy your last three full days on Earth. At least until Sunday when we can start counting down again until 2012. Also, eat dessert first.

Peace out.

  3. Love the post! Especially the part about the kids and parents. Add to that the parents who won't discipline their kids because they think it will scar them for life... UGH!! Drives me crazy!

  4. Tame you wrote it just like it is. Factual! It's not the kids fault. I too blame the parents and too many reality shows. Don't get me started on the reality shows!!!

  5. I'm with you on the grade thing. My husband and I have decided not to praise our daughter for being smart, but for working hard. Then she knows she is in charge, not some "gift."
